Talk to someone 🐝

Someone to talk to, when there isn't anyone.

Last updated August 8, 2026

There is a particular kind of lonely that has nothing to do with being alone in a room. You have people. You just cannot say this to any of them.

Telling a friend means they now have an opinion about your partner, and they keep it long after you have made up. Telling family is worse. So you carry it around all week and say “fine” when someone asks.

You can say it here instead. A real person reads it and writes back. Not a bot. Not a form. Someone who is not in your life and will not be taking sides in it.

If it is worse than that, please read this first

OkayHonee is not an emergency service and our listeners are not crisis counsellors. If you are thinking about hurting yourself, or you are in danger right now, please contact people who are trained for exactly this — they are free, they are available all night, and they will not judge you for calling.

  • US: call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline)
  • US: text HOME to 741741 (Crisis Text Line)
  • Canada: call or text 988
  • Anywhere: your local emergency number

There is no shame in it, and it is the right call. This page will still be here after.

What this actually is

You pick a listener, and you write to them. They write back. It works like a text conversation, except the person on the other end is not involved in your life and has no stake in how it turns out.

They are not therapists or counsellors, and this is not treatment. They are ordinary people who happen to be good at listening — the friend you would ring at eleven at night, if ringing a friend were an option this week. If what you need is a licensed professional, that is a real and worthwhile thing to go and find, and we would rather say so than pretend to be it.

What it is good for: the fight you keep replaying. The thing you have not said out loud yet. The week where nothing is technically wrong and you feel terrible anyway. Good news you are bursting to tell somebody. It does not have to be a crisis to be worth saying.

Why this instead of telling a friend

Telling the people close to you costs something. They worry. They remember. They take sides, and they keep taking them long after you and your partner are fine again. Half the reason people say nothing is that saying it makes a permanent record in somebody they love.

Here, there is no record like that. Your listener does not know your partner, will not run into them, and has no history with either of you to protect.

  • You sign in with Google or Apple, so we never see a password. Your listener only ever sees the first name on that account — never your email address, and never anything else from your profile.
  • None of it goes to an AI. What you write to a person is never sent to an AI provider and is never used to generate anything.
  • There is no profile anyone can browse, no feed, no reviews, and no way for anyone on this site to find you or read a word of it.
  • We do not sell it or trade it. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not at any price, and we never have.

The full detail is in the Privacy Policy, and it is written to be read rather than to be survived.

How it works

1. Sign in

No forms, no questionnaires, no intake. A few seconds with Google or Apple, which is also how we avoid ever holding a password of yours.

2. Pick your listener

You get to read a bit about each of them and choose whoever you would rather chat with. There is no best one. You can talk to somebody else whenever you feel like it, and nothing you write moves between them.

3. Start chatting

Say it in whatever order it comes out. They read all of it. A reply can arrive in minutes or take several hours — they are people, not a service desk, and the conversation stays open while you wait.

What it costs

Your first 200 messages are free. No card, nothing to cancel, no trial that quietly turns into a subscription.

After that you buy messages in batches, whenever you want more. There is no plan, no monthly anything, and nothing that renews on its own. Messages never expire and they stack on top of whatever you already have.

You only ever pay for the messages you send. Your listener's replies are always free, however long they write — so nobody is watching a meter while somebody takes their time answering properly.

Open to people eighteen and over in the United States and Canada.

Questions worth answering first

Am I talking to a real person or a bot?

A real person. Every reply in the listener chat is typed by a human being. Nothing you write there is ever sent to an AI, and no AI ever writes back. OkayHonee also has a separate AI feature for reading text messages, and the two never mix.

Are your listeners therapists or counsellors?

No. They are ordinary people who are good at listening, and OkayHonee is not therapy, counselling, or treatment of any kind. If you want a licensed professional, that is a different and worthwhile thing to look for.

How much does it cost?

Your first 200 messages are free. After that you buy messages in batches. There is no subscription and nothing renews. You only pay for the messages you send — your listener's replies are always free, however long they write.

Is it anonymous?

You sign in with Google or Apple, so we never see a password. Your listener only ever sees the first name on that account — never your email address, and never anything else from your profile. There is no public profile, no feed, and no way for anyone on the site to find you.

How long until someone replies?

It varies. Listeners are people with lives, so a reply can arrive in minutes or take several hours. Your conversation stays open and nothing you have written is lost while you wait.

Can I change listeners?

Yes, whenever you like. Each listener is a separate conversation, and nothing you write moves between them.

If you want to try it

Your first 200 messages are free, so you can find out whether it helps before it costs you anything.
